What is GaragePages.com?
GaragePages.com is an online search engine for garage sales located in New Jersey. The site is similar to a classified ad section in a newspaper, allowing hosts to easily post their garage sale to the database for a minimal fee of $4.95 instead of $20 to $40 dollars in local newspapers. Sales are categorized by city, zip code, and various keywords. Visitors can search their area for garage sales and gather information about selected sales.

How do I post a sale?
Posting a sale on GaragePages.com has been made extremely simple and fast. In order to post, you must have an active user account with GaragePages.com. This account is completely free and allows you to view and bookmark sales in your area. Once you have an account, click on the post button on the top, and follow the directions.

How do I search for sales?
Searching or Browsing for sales requires a free GaragePages.com user account. To register for your account, enter you email address, a desired password, and zip code in the register form.

Why is there a fee to post a sale?
GaragePages.com offers you the ability to advertise your garage sale without the hassle of hanging up flyers, calling up newspapers, or spreading your sale by word of mouth. We do the advertising for you. We advertise our site within your community at local stores, restaurants and around town, and are therefore advertising your upcoming garage sale.

Why must I register before browsing for sales?
When you register, we collect your zip code and email address from the form you complete. We can then track how many users are searching from different locations around New Jersey, and therefore target our advertising in more ‘dense’ areas as needed.

Why is GaragePages.com only available in New Jersey?
For now, we are targeting advertising in the Central Jersey area. In the future, the GaragePages.com service will be available nationwide.


Browsing Sales

What does ‘Browsing Sales’ mean?
When a visitor searches our database for garage sales in their area, they are browsing the sales. Browsing is completely free and requires an email address and zip code to be entered.

How can I browse for garage sales in my area?
You can browse for garage sales by typing in the desired zip code or city related to the search by clicking browse. Results can be displayed by either location or date of sale. Click on the sale name in order to view the description, location, directions, categories, weather, and more.

Is browsing the database free?
Completely as long as you have an email address and zip code.

My ‘search found no results’.
This means that there are no garage sales currently posted in your area. Try searching again with a larger mile radius or a surrounding city or zip. You can ‘Bookmark’ this location in you’re My Account to monitor this area and keep you informed via email when a sale is posted. To edit these preferences, please log in.

Posting Sales

What does ‘Posting a Sale’ mean?
Before GaragePages.com was open, families having garage sales would have to contact local newspapers to post $20 to $40 ads and hang signs around town. GaragePages.com allows visitors to post sales online for their entire community to see.

How do I add my garage sale to the database?
To add a sale, click on ‘Add Sale’ on the top of the site. Fill out the information completely and follow the steps to continue.

How much does it cost to add a garage sale?
A garage sale listing on GaragePages.com costs $3.95 for a listing up to 4 weeks.

How long will my garage sale stay listed in the index?
Your garage sale will be listed in the database for the set amount of time (default is 4 weeks). When the sale has ended, it will be kept online for 3 additional unless otherwise specified. We keep sales posted 3 days after they are over incase a browser wants to contact you about an item that may not have been sold. After these three days, the sale will be removed from the database.

How can I ensure that more visitors see my sale?
The most important way to ensure that visitors see your sale is to promote GaragePages.com. By telling friends and family about this site, they will share with others, leading to a larger population of browsers. GaragePages.com also has several add-on features to help you promote your garage sale:

Featured Sale Listing - When users within your area (zip or city) log into their account, your sale will be posted at the top of every page they visit. (add $5.00 to listing cost)

Newsletter Listing - Every week a newsletter is sent out to all members of GaragePages.com. The Newsletter lists your sale as a featured sale in the members within your location. (add $5.00 to listing cost)


Troubleshooting

I am getting a ‘please login’ error.
Before searching or posting garage sales, you must first register. Registration is free and only requires your email and a password of your choice. Once you are registered, you may login to your account to browse or post a garage sale.

GaragePages.com cannot find my city or zip code.
Our database of zip codes and cities are gathered by the US Census. Every year new cities and zip codes are added to the government’s listings and may not be listed on GaragePages.com. Please contact us with any missing data in our database.

My question was not answered in the FAQ.
